Relaxed to the Max

Day 5

Our plan for the day; nothing but relaxing. It was the first time in our trip that we finally had a proper sleep-in. We made our way down for breakfast at around 9:30am. Plenty of guests were already enjoying their meal. We were ushered by a staff to an empty table and then grabbed as much food as we could eat (buffet breakfast for the win!). Returning to our table, we noticed two glasses of orange juice placed on top, what a very kind gesture from the resort staff I thought to myself. As soon as we sat down an old lady came up looking very much annoyed and without saying a word I knew that she was the one that had placed the juice on the table and so it ended up looking like we stole not only their spot by their juice as well. I told her that we were sorry and that we didn’t drink the juice yet and that we would move instead but she grumpily answered “Don’t worry about it” and walked to another table. We were hoping that would be our last encounter with them during our whole stay at the resort. 

Since we had brought our stuff already with us, we then headed towards the beach after breakfast. The shore of Nakalay Beach stretched across the whole side of the resort. The tide was high at the time and the waves were a little rough. There was a couple reclined in their banana lounges, soaking up the sun that was starting to gain its strength as it got closer to midday. Meanwhile, Wifey and I moved our lounges underneath the coconut trees for shade. As I sat there, I closed my eyes, emptied my thoughts and just listened to the noise I could hear. The waves breaking, crashing onto the sand. The rustling of the leaves swayed by the cool breeze. It was peaceful. It was paradise. This was the moment we were after on our trip, pure relaxation.

As the temperature rose, so did our yearning to cool off. Since the beach was a little rocky, we moved to the poolside instead. The pool was huge! It wrapped around a quarter of the entire resort. It was edged by tropical plants such as palm trees, ferns, hibiscus, orchids and frangipani. Swimming in it felt like you were in a waterhole within a rainforest.

Due to having too much fun in the water, our hunger crept earlier than expected. The Crocodile Pool bar was right next to the pool and so that was where we had lunch. Wifey and I shared a marinara pizza and a watermelon shake, it was delicious. To top it off, we had a decent view of the beach.

The resort was bigger than we anticipated. There was something unique to see at every corner. Statues decorated the gardens each with its own stories. It was interesting to read about the history of the hotel and folklore behind them. There was also mini petting zoo for the kids (and the kids at heart) where you can get up close with rabbits, parrots, a tortoise and even a pony. After the enjoyable stroll around the resort, we went back to our room to rest.

Afternoon came and we were off to Patong again for dinner. We took the resort shuttle which was filled with other guests for the same reason. Back on Patong Beach, this time we managed to catch the sunset. The orange glow blanketed the horizon, mirrored by the water which created a beautiful, painting-like image witnessed by everyone on the shore. 

The streets were filled with the usual crowd, out for some food, mostly for a good time. We ended up in Jungceylon Mall at Fuji Restaurant as Wifey was craving some Japanese food. Takoyaki, katsudon and teriyaki chicken were our dishes for the night. The food was good, restaurant was clean and the price was affordable. The rest of the night consisted of more walking while we waited for our shuttle service to return. We ended up buying some souvenirs.

It was a relaxing day indeed. More relaxing to come in the coming days.
